DS8 Coaching Clinic Lboro

GB Basketball Captain Drew Sullivan announced today that he will be holding an exclusive DS8 Clinic at Loughborough University on the 20th and 21st August 2012. Following his recent success at the London 2012 Olympic Games, Drew Sullivan is keen to pass on his reputable knowledge and vast experience to aspiring future basketball players.

Drew explained, “Everyone involved in the organisation and execution of this clinic believe for a young person to reach their full potential it is imperative that they are exposed to as many skill sets as possible, which the clinic strives to achieve every step of the way.” Drew also stated his aversion to pigeon holing a player based solely on their physical appearance, “My coach Joe White was presented with me as a 6’4” 13yr old boy and based on my physical appearance alone it would have been easy for him to keep me near the basket. However, Joe had the foresight to develop my all round skills and without this man’s vision it’s unlikely that I would have achieved to the heights I have been lucky enough to reach to date.” One of the most important attributes that the DS8 Clinic and Drew possess is the ability to recognise and understand that a majority of players will naturally fall into certain positions for a number of reasons, but Drew is still dedicated to developing their all round skills providing the young players with invaluable knowledge and experience as an interchangeable, multi-dimensional team player.

In addition to the clinics dedicated focus on the players all round skill’s, the Clinic will also be implementing the Nike SPARQ Vapour strobe glasses into the workout process. Drew is a firm believer in the advantages produced by this product and stated, “I can honestly say I have personally used this product and the advantages were plentiful, including improved visual skills to athletic movements, improved visual skills to sports performance, an increase in focus and attention, increased imagery and visualisation, increased reaction time and improved peripheral vision.”

Although the clinics are predominantly focused towards player development, Drew and the clinic staff appreciate that game situation is also hugely important to a player’s all round development, so time will be dedicated at the end of each session for the participants to play putting their newly acquired skills into practice. The clinic consists of two 4hr sessions held over the two days from 9am-1pm for 16’s and under and from 2pm-6pm for 17’s and over.

The clinic is £80 for the two days excluding accommodation. However if you require this, accommodation can be arranged for just an extra £15 or £30 should a single room be preferred.
